Biography of Dr. Ghafoori

Dr. Ghafoori is Board-Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She graduated cum laude undergraduate from the University of Southern California (Los Angeles) and with Honors from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (San Francisco.) She completed her general surgery residency at Emory University School of Medicine (Atlanta) and her plastic surgery residency at University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (San Francisco.)

Dr. Ghafoori is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, American Board of Surgery, and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She currently holds a Texas Medical License.

Dr. Ghafoori holds hospital privileges at the following centers: Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas; Valley Baptist Ambulatory Surgery Center, Harlingen, Texas; Harlingen Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas; Mission Hospital, Mission, Texas; Valley Baptist Medical Center - Brownsville, Brownsville, Texas; Brownsville Surgical Hospital, Brownsville, Texas, and South Texas Surgery Center, McAllen, Texas.

Dr. Ghafoori holds the following hospital appointments: Board of Trustees, Golden Palms Retirement and Health Center; and Medical Director, Utilization/Management and Documentation, Valley Baptist Medical Center. She was past Chief of Surgery for four years (2002-2005) at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas, and currently serves on several hospital committees. She currently is a physician examiner for the Texas Medical Foundation and is a public member of the Texas State Bar Grievance Committee. Dr. Ghafoori is also a member of the Texas Medical Association and the Cameron-Willacy County Medical Society. In addition, Dr. Ghafoori has published three research papers in peer-reviewed medical journals.
